Looking for a quick 9 holes to play after work and this locally built public course was recommended. My first look was "I drove 25 minutes to play this" and then I got onto the course. This was one rolling layout that had most of the greens perched above the fairways or well below the fairways making club selection a little tough. The nicely mowed green fairways had mixed grasses scattered throughout that were very playable. The greens have been watered very good and were soft but bumpy (5-6) and had no burn spots anywhere. But the rough varied between dry/lush conditions as they also have had a dry summer. Paid $17 for 9holes w/cart playing the front (3,087yds Par 35) shooting 37 w/17putts in 65 minutes. Had two (2) holes that I would say took away for the normal other 7 holes as being, kinda funky. The #5 419yd par 4 had a side hill landing area that drained to the RH side shelf that left you shooting to a green 50' below the fairway. They need a yardage marker giving carry to the landing area AND a yardage to the green from that area also. The front nine (3,016yd Par 35) looked more of a flatter links style layout and look forward to playing it the next time I'm in the area. Good locally designed/owned course that is a favorite of the area average golfers. This is a must play before you play Graysburg Hills GC so you can get accustomed to uneven shots and typical rolling layouts this area offers to its layouts.

Back in the area this week and decided to play the Back 9 (3,016 Par 35) and found out quickly, its not as flat as I thought. The conditions are a little fuzzier (longer grass on fairways/greens) because of fall, is expected so no bad marks in this area. There are many elevation changes on every hole for 2nd shots which had me hitting anything from a 5 - 8 iron from 150yds that made me glad I had my range finder dialed in for elevation changes. This is a straight forward rolling layout with your biggest challenge on 2nd shot club selection. The greens are very soft and will hold any shot thrown at them with little protection (sand traps) on most holes. Coming up short is not a problem with greens receiving "Chip & Runs" for saves very easily as I had three (3) myself today. Felt good today shooting 37/16 putts having a birdie on #16 392yd Par 4 and bogeys on #10, #14, #18 while wearing shorts in a 68 degree November day.
