My granddaughter Madison played her high school golf match here today so I thought I'd add a little more insight to Bay Pointe GC. It was designed by Ernie Fuller and opened as a Private Country Club in 1967 with Gene Bone as it Head Golf Professional. Became open to the Public in 2006 and was well received with play and social gatherings with its upscale facilities.
The course has smooth bent grass fairways/greens (rolling 8-9) and being close to a lake has many streams with drainage ponds that come into play on all but three (3) holes. Being a traditional links layout its a walker friendly course with most tee boxes located behind the previous green within 50yds. There are only two (2) tee boxes (Men & Women) to choose from so its either 6,231yds / 70.1 / 122 or 4,906yds / 69.5 / 119 with both being Par 35/36 or 71. Fairways are generous with well cut landing areas with either scattered trees or water hazards to catch those errant shots. Hole #6 368yd Par 4 Dogleg is the #2 hcp on the front with water down the entire LH side and marsh on the RH side. Yardage is located on all sprinkler heads and blocks (100-200) found on the paved cart paths from tee to green. In talking to various local golfers the soggy fairway conditions today are normal up to three (3) days after it rains. Having lower rates ($30 Senior) showed a packed parking lot and both tee boxes stacked for evening play.
Worth stopping in and playing a great Public course that still has its Country Club conditions throughout.
Would travel: 20-30 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Bargain priced based on quality and competitive area pricing, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing, Ranks with the best in this price level
Condition of Course, Price, Food/ Bar facilities, Difficulty, No Houses on Course, Clubhouse
