In town for the evening and bumped in Dr. Norman and Dr. Herman in the Canebrake parking lot they ask me to join them for as quick Back 9 ($24 / 3,409yd from the Blues) loop. With the six (6) tee boxes your can bite off anything you want from 7,237 to 4,356yds and still have a challenging time. What a rolling, sand bunker layout this turned out to be. I had a little trouble adjusting to the Bermuda grass in the holes #10 - #12 but then buckled down and ran off 5 straight pars. This is a well laid out 1998 Ron Garl designed course with many 180yd+ forced carries off the tee to sand trap (hard sand) protected fairways. The oversized elevated greens were well guarded by deep high bank sand traps that varied from hard to soft. Greens held all shots very good and putted (8-9) very true even though they had been recently sanded. Yardage was gauged through colored yardage sticks down the center of the fairways and I don't believe the sprinkler heads were marked. Some of the par 3 tee boxes had yardage blocks, which was nice. I shot 41 / 16putts from the Blues playing 3,409yds / Par 36 ( 72.6 / 139 / Par 72) and loved the layout as any houses were far enough back and not in play. Looking forward to playing here again on my next trip and getting to see the complete layout in one round. Thanks Dr. Norman/Dr. Herman for the invite and enjoyable round.
Would travel: 30-60 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing, Ranks with the best in this price level, Best course in the area
