Decided to play the "Lake Course" and complete both layout of the Legendary Chautauqua Golf Club that has had 14 Golf Hall of Famers playing here in the 1920's through 1940's. There is a plaque on Lake Course #1 tee box with their names that will make you look/play the course with a little more reverence. I played it from the Blues with the front 3,107yds Par 35 and the back 3,452yds Par 37 having a 69.3 / 120 Although its kinda flat looking the mostly elevated / tipped / protected greens will challenge you in hitting them, correctly. The #1-#4 are mostly flat but then the up hill 2nd shots on #5 & #7 will take there toll. The back 9 is where elevated / tipped greens will throw a mix of everything at you on each hole. The #13 175yd Par 3 tipped green(Stay to LH side) and the uphill #17 517yd Par 5 (3 extra longer irons) are holes that will leave their mark as you're saying, "Next time I play here I'll...". We all know the ending of that story line. Gotta visit this area and play both of these tracks, you won't be disappointed.
Would travel: 60-120 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Bargain priced based on quality and competitive area pricing, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing, Ranks with the best in this price level, Best course in the area
Condition of Course, Price, Pace of Play, Difficulty, Ambiance, Layout, No Houses on Course
