Finishing up playing all of the 21 golf courses in Jackson County and having Deer Run GC as my last on. Nice little "Home Grown" layout by a local avid golfing guru family "Gilpins", was a real joy to play again. Playing from the Blue's @ 3,245yds / Par 36 this tree lined, but mostly straight forgiving layout, had overall good fairway landing conditions and grass. The greens were soft but true, rolling 7-8 and fully green from all edges, with no burn or ball marks. Players must like playing here as they fix their divots/ball marks before moving on. I paid for 18 ($25 w/cart) but decided after #2 hole to start playing two balls as nobody was really in front of me or pushing so I could finish earlier, instead of making two (2) loops. . (I'm starting to like this idea) This took 1.5hr shooting 37/38 w/28 putts as the small greens set-up for "up-downs" very nicely without any sand traps to speak of. Had a couple of memorable drives on the #8 (285yds) and #9 (305yds) as taking advantage of the extra firm rolling fairways and hitting on the back side of the hills for that extra roll out. Worth stopping and playing this local track and staying for some fine food from this fine local favorite golf/restaurant hangout.
Would travel: 10-20 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Average course for the area, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing
Condition of Course, Price, Pace of Play, Staff, No Houses on Course
