This Public nine (9) hole course designed by Don & D.J. Hesler in 1964 plays from Blues at 3,135yds down to Reds at 2,550yds on this Par 36 layout. Original owners Eugene & Eileen Flynn have built and maintained this course to conditions that mirror any Private Club I've seen. They have passed this work/condition expectations to their Son Dan Flynn and he's made this a showcase of what a golf course could be. Although its a fairly flat Link's layout, having nine (9) ponds stone lined bordered, that come into play will keep you on your toes. Tee boxes that are raised and leveled flat with landscaping out of a page in a Better Homes & Garden magazine. Sand traps (1-2) are found guarding each green with white fluffy sand that are powered raked each morning. Greens are slightly raised, firm and flat that were rolling to a 9-10 today. The Hole markers have layout and yardages but lack GAM markers for the two (2) Par 3 holes to get accurate distances. The #1 is a straightaway 330yd Par 4 that is open enough to miss the fairway and still score. The #2 is a 180yd Par 3 to a raised green that has a large front pond grabbing those short shots, with a pin high left as a bail area. The #3 is a 505yd Par 5 that plays into the SW wind very well and a hidden pond left side front of green. The #4 is a 520yd downwind Par 5 with four (4) ponds bordering fairway on your first two (2) shots, so plan accordingly. The #5 at 380yds has a RH pond creeping into the fairway at 190-220yd out so stay left. There are three (3) sand traps guarding this raised green to protect its Hcp 2 ranking. Their Hcp 1 hole at 405yds is #6 is a slight dogleg right with a inside corner pond that needs 220yd carry to clear from the Blue tees or 175yds from the Whites. The narrow (20yds) outside corner fairway kicks slightly towards the pond so use that draw or flirt with disaster. The #7 Par 4 at 325yds has one of the finest landscaped tee boxes I've ever seen, anywheres. Stay to RH center of the narrow fairway as a LH tree overhangs and will block any shot over 80yds in. The #8 is a dogleg left 315yd Par 4 that requires a 210-230yd drive to the corner to see the sloping back to front green with two (2) front traps. Finnishing on a 175yd Par 3 two (2) tiered green has a easy par at the correct level. Still can't believe the wonderful conditions that were found on this unsuspecting 57 year old, nine (9) hole public course. I paid $7 to walk nine (9) holes because I didn't want to pay the $12w/cart and miss the great conditions from tee to green on this 60 degree morning. Ended up shooting 42w/17 putts as that #6 hidded pond added another ball to its unending list.

Would travel: 20-30 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Bargain priced based on quality and competitive area pricing, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing, Ranks with the best in this price level, Best course in the area
