In the DC area for the week and decided to check out a few of the courses here. Being this course is located between two (2) rivers and it’s been raining, it was walking only. I was told this is normal after a rain, so I strapped the clubs to my back and off I went. With the five (5) tee boxes to choose from, we chose the Blues which are the tips. The card was showing Blues at 3,255/3,344yds / 70.5 / 115 for this Par 36/36 Links layout. You can play all the way down to the Green tees at 2,350/2,288yds and have a relaxing day with the irons. This is a very flat course with straight away views from tee to green. Yardage sticks in the center from 100 - 200 give good targets to focus on. Good size full greens that hold good with slight tipping and putting (6-8) slow but true. Sand traps were very soft with white grainy sand that was recently fluffed. Lots of casual water pockets in the fairways but that’s Mother Nature so we played accordingly. Even though holes run side by side, the trees offer good separation and knock down stray shots. For the $21.50 to walk 18, great views of Washington Monument on #16-18 holes, planes/helicopters on both sides, shooting 41/42 w/34 putts this was one great day. If you’re in the DC area, you won’t find anything better for a tuneup before hitting the other tracks.
Would travel: 10-20 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Bargain priced based on quality and competitive area pricing, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing, Ranks with the best in this price level
