The new name of this course since 2014 is "Patriot Hills Golf Course" and as Paul Harvey would say, "Now for the rest of the story". Hillcrest CC (Est. 1929)was another victim of a golf course going to seed in 2012 with a farmer purchasing the land to plow under. Harry and Chris Nix approached him and persuaded him to let them have a try and bringing it back to life. Harry being a former Veteran and retired State Trooper with idle time, got some Die Hard golfers together to make something great happen. They reopened in 2014 this 2,847/2,716yd / 113 / 68.0 Par 35/35 typical Links layout with a ravine running through it, adding a little challenge to about six (6) holes. The Blue grass greens are small in size but smooth, 150-100yd sticks, few sand traps and pine/hardwood mix of trees guarding/separating the fairways. The Forward/Women tees 2,610/2,314yd / Par 36/36 share most Mens tees but offer 639yds of overall advantage. The #17 hole / Hcp 1 / Par 3 is a 213yd side hill green over the ravine and is all carry, this I know. All the holes are "Side by Side" but with establish trees, wide fairways I see no "In your Grill" problems. What makes this course set itself away from the normal tee box area is the granite grave markers, honoring area fallen servicemen from the area. The Patriot Hills GC score card has "Course Dedicated to the War on Terror Fallen" written on it which takes this freedom of golfing, to a sacrifice we may have forgotten. Having a close relationship to the Vietnam conflict (2 classmates) this is a reminder......never forget. I ended up playing the Back 9 and shooting 38/13putts on this cool/windy March morning and giving a small donation for their volunteer clean-up day, as I couldn't be there. If you're in the area, stop in and play a great, "Come Back Course" with a new tradition.

Would travel: 20-30 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Average course for the area, Bargain priced based on quality and competitive area pricing, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing
