Back in the area again and was told about another hidden gem of a hilly public course. This hilly area in Hinckley, OH (south of Cleveland) offers a natural challenge to not only building a course but playing it. With the many elevation changes and uneven lies you need to take in many elements before setting up to hit your shot. Having four (4) tee box selections you can choose from 6,509yds down to 4,911yds on this Par 36/35 roller coaster layout. Another interesting fact about this course is there's five (5) extra holes in the middle of the course they call the "Buzzard" holes. I only played the front 9 so I can't say any more than the have 23 holes here to play. The front 9 starts out with back to back Par 5's that have the same double hills and elevated greens. The #3 461yd Par 4 is straight away downhill but final shot is uphill to the green. Greens were holding very nice because of the abundance of rain but putt/roll (8) very smooth. The #6 198yd -130yd Par 3 is a full carry over a deep ravine and a long drive/walk to the elevated green. I was joking the next day that the only flat lie on the course was on the tee box.....and that's a true statement. The #8 214yd - 140yd Par 3 is uphill shot to a green located on the top of a hill with the only bail out on the righthand side and not much either. The #9 630yd - 439yd Par 5 is one hilly and uphill climb to finish this side. Your tee shot from the tips must carry 230yds to carry the pond covering the lefthand side of the fairway. Your target is the Red tee box 191yds at the end of the land bridge leading to it. Wow!! what a way to finish and ready yourself for the back 9. Fairways have fair landing areas, with the rough thick and sticky. Few hard pan sand traps (Lots of rain) but weed free, so that was nice. Lack of yardage markers fairway/Par 3's was a big disappointment for a course this challenging. I ended up mixing Blue/Whites tees to shoot 38 w/16putts on this treelined/hilly layout. Enjoyed the change up from flatter Links type layouts, working on yardage/uneven lies. Look forward to return and playing the back 9 and Buzzard holes in this Hilly layout.

Would travel: 20-30 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
