Its 37 degrees, no snow (yet), sunny with a 10mph wind blowing out of the northwest, Masters is on TV, what do you do..........Play Golf. Decided to try this "MetroParks" course as its located 50 minutes East of Jackson, 10 minutes North of I-94 as I couldn't help Patrick Reed anymore from my couch, as he looked to be...in the Zone.

The Front 9 is very open (3,165yd / Par 35) layout with good hole separation giving that relaxed tee box feeling. Everything was a little rough from the winter snow last week but, greens rolled very true to give you a taste of fast summer conditions. Nice soft green side sand traps catching those stray shots to the average larger sizes greens that were holding everything today. The tee box signs had only the "Hole # and Par #" without yardages, layout or hidden hazards....haven't seen this since the 1960's. Yardage markers were the second thing I noticed that seem to be lacking. Had the 150yd white stick in the middle, painted yardage on the paths, but the sprinkler heads had nothing. This made it difficult for cart path only play today and carrying clubs with a range finder.

Now on to the Back 9 playing 3,395yds / Par 36 and winding its way into the woods and marsh areas. Still very flat but the tree-lined fairways changed your set-up on the tee box on shaping the ball to the best landing areas. This was much more enjoyable as the Front 9 gave me time to work on those early driver tune-ups, I always need.

Now back to the good things about what this course has to offer. Playing to 6,560yds / 71.6 / 120 / Par 71 this course offers up six (6) Par 4's at 395 - 430yds, Four (4) Par 3's with two of them 202 - 237yds. The #16 Par 3 at 237yds has a hidden gully in front that rejects any hit under 220yd carry to its amble, tipped front/right green. I believe one (1) putt par's is the only thing this hole will give up.

The course has a very nice clubhouse that looked like it served the typical fast food/drinks that most average golfers are looking for while settling up bets and making plans for next weekend. Paying $22 for 18/cart and shooting 39/40 w/32 putts made me want to stop back in later in summer and see how winter sheds its coat on this fun Links layout.

Would travel: 30-60 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Bargain priced based on quality and competitive area pricing, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing, Ranks with the best in this price level
