Got a 2nd chance to replay here again with son Jeremy and granddaughter Madison this overcast Saturday morning before it rains.
This open Links designed layout is just what I needed after playing the Lake Doster GC on Friday. With the wet conditions, wide fairways, soft smooth greens this course was ready to give up some good shots.
This is one good hidden gem of a Jerry Matthews design located away from everything but raw nature. Playing from 6,532yd / 72.2 / 131 down to 4,624yd / 67.3 / 115 on this Par 35/36 layout will bring enjoyment and challenge to every golfers skill level from the four (4) tee boxes. I ended up shooting 35/38 w/33 putts and had an enjoyable 3.5hr morning with son and granddaughter on this rolling Links layout.
This is a must play for the price ($40), conditions, layout, and ambiance if you're in the Howell, MI area.

Even though they had 4 inches of rain on Wednesday, snow on Friday and Frost delay this morning we still decided to play. It was walking only for $25 (too wet for carts) on this great Jerry Matthews layout playing 6,552yds / 72.2 / 131 / Par71 that finally warmed up to a sunny 68 degrees. We finished in 4hrs 15 minutes with Jeremy shooting 82/39putts and me at 87/33putts with driver troubles all day till hole #16. This Links layout had generous landing areas (sprinkler head markings) with great sand bunkers (great sand) placed just out of my reach in the fairways but not the green areas. The average size greens rolled very good considering the early water/snow conditions and in prime time, I know they will be very slick. Even though its off the beaten path to get here, its well worth the drive to this straight forward Links style hidden gem, near Howell, MI
