Traveling through this area and was told about this "Reborn" 1904 six (6) hole CC golf course into the busy Public redesigned 2006 eighteen (18) track it is today.
I only had time for nine (9) holes so they put me with a local twosome of Bob and Rich. (Great retired guys)
We decided to play the Whites at 3,173/2,829yds / 69.2 / 123 on this scattered tree, rolling landscape Front 9 with great full fairway green grass from tee to green Par 37/35 layout. The greens seem to be on the larger size with good sand in the traps to explode onto the 8-9 rolling carpet. Starting out with a narrow rolling 340yd was a friendly way to an easy Par. The #2 Par 4 at 373yds brought the scattered trees in a little tighter to challenge each shot. The #3 Par 5 at 458yds had me hitting my 3wood off the tee for center-cut placement so I could hit it again and be assured of staying between the trees to set up an easy approach shot. The #5 is another short 478yd Par 5 but has a dogleg tee shot to the elevated green. The #6 Par 4 at 369yds is their Hcp 1 hole because of being narrow and elevated green with rejection if you miss your landing area. The #8 is the 3rd Par 5 at 511yds Hcp 3 because it snakes its narrow way from the tee box to the protected green. The #9 is a Par 3 for the finish but 241yds down to 176yds is anything but a friendly finish to your Front 9 for an easy score.
Really enjoy playing with local regulars as they talk about the many changes here......and for the good. Ended up shooting 40 w/16 putts and look forward to returning to give the challenging "Shorter" Back 9 a try.
Would travel: 20-30 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Bargain priced based on quality and competitive area pricing, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing
