In the area after 25yrs to visit my Uncle/Aunt and cousin Teri and had this 1990 built 36 hole track, just down the street. Paid my $30 and chose The Palms (many throughout the course) with the tips playing 3,279/3,288yds / 71.4 / 123 on this flat Par 36/36 Links layout. With the five (5) tees, you can play down to 2,692/2,779yds to make your round a little more enjoyable. The layout is very straight forward from tee to green with scattered traps in most fairways. Fairway grass is full and cut short with most rough outside 5-10yds from fairway sparse and tight. Greens are in good shape and rolling a smooth 8-9 with a few unrepaired pinch marks. Well placed firm sand traps around the sculpture greens that can offer hidden pins if needed. Water breaks up the layout and can cause pain on eight (8) holes, especially your approach shot on #14. This 482yd Par 5 has 70yd water carry to the promise land and don’t miss right. The longest Par 3 is #12 at 189yds and plays into the prevailing winds on this pear shaped green. The Back 9 rough was more thicker than the front 9 and trees replaced palms. The finishing four (4) Par 4 holes playing very tight w/ #16 a 433yd Hcp 2 challenging you all the way. Enjoyed the 2.5hr eighteen (18) hole round from the tips, shooting 40/42 w/36putts. This is a great warmup round for Torrey Pines South course tomorrow, can’t wait.
Would travel: 10-20 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Bargain priced based on quality and competitive area pricing, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing
Price, Pace of Play, Staff, Layout, No Houses on Course
