Found this rolling tree lined, 18 hole family owned course 15 minutes East of Lansing off I-96. With the four (4) tees you can choose from Blacks 6,172yd - Green 3,817yds on this well conditioned Par 34/36 layout. We played the Blacks 6,172yd / 69.3 / 122 and found generous groomed landing areas that were well marked by yardage sticks/blocks. The rough was thick as the rainly conditions here have been not lacking in that area. Found the greens suprisingly rolling smooth and fast despite our moist weather conditions. Front 9 starts out with a straight away 399yd Par 4 Hcp 1 with 2nd shot to a downhill placed narrow green. The #2 hole is a slight downhill 196yd Par 3 and the first of the five (5) Par 3's here. Interesting Par 3 fact: All five (5) played within 12yds of each other today. The #3 is a slight dogleg 398yd Par 4 that is the Hcp 3 due to a narrow fairway. The #4 is a slight uphill 182yd Par 3 that was playing about 1 club longer today. The #6 is a short 475yd Par 5 that has OB left and scattered trees on RH side with a rolling fairway. The #7 is a 192yd Par 3 and is a little downhill to a larger type green. The #9 has a uphill finish to this 412yd Par 4 so check slope yardage twice. Starting out on #10 is a crooked and rolling 560yd Par 5 that is the Hcp 2. The #11 & #12 are short narrow 312/328yd Par 4's that allow's you feel good Par's. Jeremy & I took turns with Birdies on each hole....very nice feeling. The #14 is a 173yd uphill Par 3 that was playing 1.5 to 2 clubs longer today or maybe..190yds. The #15 has the Black tees moved back 100yds so they can get the 414yds they are looking for to challenge the long hitters. The #16 is another 196yd Par 3 with no real threat other than the smaller round green. The #17 is a dogleg right 526yd Par 5 that has OB left all the way to the green and is the Hcp 4 hole. The finishing #18 is a dogleg right that staying to the left side leaving a clear view to the elevated green. Not many sand traps to cause you problems (fairway/greens) but they were surprisingly soft in these wet conditions. Almost all of the Black tee boxes had 150yd forced carries to the short grass, which adds to the challenge. Jeremy ended up shooting 44/37 w/37putts and I had 39/39 w/35 putts in 2.5 hours as having the first tee time...........Priceless.
Would travel: 30-60 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Average course for the area, Bargain priced based on quality and competitive area pricing, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing
Condition of Course, Price, Pace of Play, Ambiance, Staff, Layout, No Houses on Course
