Stopped in at Manistique, MI for the evening and saw this course just off Hwy 2 so we decided to check it out. This is a nine (9) hole Par 36 wooded/water layout with four (4) tee selections from Blues at 3,055yds down to Green's at 2,315yds was built in 2003 and currently under new ownership. Their sister course "Tri-Valley GC" is now named "Garden Golf Course" and is a eighteen (18) hole layout located in Garden, Michigan and very challenging, as I was informed. Though short on the yardage side the water/marsh hazards are found on EVERY hole along with many pine/hardwood trees framing your meandering mowed fairways. The bent grass greens varied in size and shape and mostly protected by greenside water/marsh in the front or sides. The Front 9 #1 Par 4 at 350yds starts out with a 150yd water carry to a front pond protected raised green. This is typical for the next eight (8) holes with forced carries and water around the greens. The #2 is a 150-115yd Par 3 with only water on the lefthand side of this tiered kidney shaped green. The #3 is similar to #1 at 380yds with the water carry, but with water framing both sides of the raised round green like sand traps. The #4 Par 5 at 505yds is their Hcp 2 with a narrow fairway neck (15yds wide/ 50yds long)) 240yds out with water RH and front traps guarding the raised round green. The #5 Par 5 Hcp 3 at 480yds maybe shorter but after the generous driving area its a narrow chute (Trees LH/Water RH) to your last 50yd rough carry to a small round green. The #6 is a short 280yd Par 4 but with the fairway ending at water 200yds out and the green is all water carry the next 80yds. The #7 is a nice 145-120yd Par 3 with sand and water those short shots. The #8 is their Hcp 1 380-260yd Par 4 because of the water split fairway landing areas that has your safest Blue tee shot landing 200yds from the green. With water right and trees left all the way to the green, playing three (3) safe shots here makes bogey look good. Finishing up #9 at 385-265yds on this Hcp 4 Par 4 gives you one last time to hit a elevated green with water protecting the front. Really enjoyed the conditions and tight views that will ready me for Timber Stone GC at Pine Mt. Resort in Iron Mt. MI tomorrow afternoon. Enjoyed shooting 42 w/31putts as having found the hidden water three (3) times will hurt your score all day. Worth stopping and taking this nine (9) hole challenge from the tips.

Would travel: 20-30 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Bargain priced based on quality and competitive area pricing, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing
