Having two (2) eighteen (18) hole layouts here, you can really disperse the golfers quickly on these very different layouts. We decided on the North 1968 Jerry Matthew's "Link's" layout as it plays (4 tee's) from Gold 6,942yd / 73.8 / 126 down to Red 5,481yd / 71.6 / 123 for a Par 36/36. We chose the White's as they played 6,341yds / 70.6 / 121 on this cool and windy morning. Blue's played about 10yds longer per hole as they shared the White tee box area. The #1 Par 4 at 359-290yds has a straightaway generous fairway but don't get used to this friendliness. The #2 at 552-401yds Par 5 is their Hcp 2 being narrow fairway and a creek crossing at the front of the green. The #3 sweeping left 435-359yd Par 4 plays best from the left side of the fairway with a stream behind the green. The Par 3 at #4 is 198-154yds and is trap free to this raised green. The #5 Par 4 has ponds guarding fairway on the RH side tee shot and then another in the LH front of green. The #8 Par 4 is a sweeping left fairway that you need to stay to the RH side as tall LH trees block those shots. The #9 sweeping right Par 4 is short at 363-288yds but play for the 100yd stick as its your widest and back from the LH/RH large trees. The Back 9 #10 is a friendly 268-256yd Par 4 and my son Jeremy and I both getting Birdies, made it more special. The #11 has a "S" shaped fairway and a pond guarding LH side of fairway up to the green 444-339yds away. The #12 Par 5 at 535-339yds narrows up at the 250-150 yardage markers with a pond on the RH side. The #15 Par 5 at 559-481yds is their Hpc 1 because of narrow fairway framed by waste areas and a pond guarding RH side at 275-200yds yardage marker. The #17 Par 3 at 221-119yds that plays into the SW wind plays nothing but long even with the two (2) front sand traps. The #18 has the wind at your back for this 450-317yds Par 4 with a 200yd carry over the pond located in front of the tee box. We were told that the conditions were still a little fuzzy long because of the current dry conditions and waiting for spring rain before cutting to normal grass heights. But for the $20 to play 18 holes with a cart, It was a no brainer. Son Jeremy shot 39/41 w/33putts and I had 41/40 w/35putts look forward to playing the tighter South soon.
Would travel: 30-60 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Bargain priced based on quality and competitive area pricing, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing, Best course in the area
Condition of Course, Price, Pace of Play, Ambiance, Staff, Layout, No Houses on Course
