Got a great deal for "Play & Stay" at $110.00 for 36 holes and one (1) night lodging at this beauitful upper Michigan "Pine Mountian Resort". Thanks to my friend Mark L for setting this up. You kinda get a idea of what the course layout is going to be when you view the ski jumping training hill located just off the lodge parking lot. This course is carved through the wooded foothills here that have trees framing this rolling and curvy layout. Having the six (6) tees you can choose the right landing areas that will make this course a joy to play. We played the Middle tees at 3,012/3,026yds / 69.6 / 137 on this Par 36/36 challenging layout. Big Hint: Don't leave the Pro Shop without the yardage book and your Range Finder. The conditions here from tee to green are off the hook with even the sand traps very fair to play from and there are plenty out here to choose from. The #5 Par 5 we played at 416yd is smart to play for the easy three (3) shots with the narrow fairway having water left, sand/trees right. The #6 Par 4 at 349yds is their Hcp 1 with water down the LH side/trees RH leading to this narrow green that you don't miss right. The #9 Par 4 at 405yds is downhill but the Hcp 3 gives you a narrow driving area and the thin green with water left/sand right. The #12 Par 4 is short dogleg right at 292yds but sets up for a great 220yd fade drive drive over the corner sand trap. The #16 is a 370yd Hcp 2 Par 4 that has you playing for the 130-150yd 2nd shot to this long elevated green with sand RH side. The #17 Par 3 is the photo viewed in this insert (110' drop) and needs to be played from the tips at 215yds and with the wind today, we hit our 195yd clubs. It was a GREAT way to card a Par here today. The #18 is a downhill Par 5 that we played at 521yds that has your tee shot landing blind on a ledge and your blind 2nd shot landing around 100-130yds from the green. Great track and will return to move back to the 6,336yd / 72.1 / 145 tees next time for a better challenge of what this course has to offer. Ended up shooting 81 w/34 putts the first day and 77 w/32 putts the 2nd day as learning target golf is better than Grip & Rip it on this course.
Would travel: 120-300 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Bargain priced based on quality and competitive area pricing, Ranks with the best in this price level, Best course in the area
Condition of Course, Price, Food/ Bar facilities, Difficulty, Ambiance, Staff, Layout, No Houses on Course, Clubhouse
