Played here about 20 years ago and decided to return, see whats changed and give it a ranking. This original 9 hole course was started by Tom & Maxine Manley in 1964 and designed by Robert Beard. Then about 5 years later (so I was told) they added 9 more holes and mixed up the layout to make 18 holes.
The course is still owned/operated by the same family, keeping golfing alive through being affordable, kids golfing clinics, tournaments, and great course conditions during the golf season.
My son-in-law Kevin D and I arrived at a full parking lot on this sunny November afternoon to $15.00 for 18/cart for this 6,382 yards / 118 / 69.8 Par 36/36 "Links Traditional" golf outing. Tee boxes are flat but shaggy, fairways a little too long, very good rough and fuzzy but smooth rolling greens. Fairway layout is "Side-by-Side" with rows of trees and good distance, separating the stray shots if they should happen. Yardage markers are 100 to 200 sticks outlining the sides of the fairways.
Front 9 is the most open layout with Kevin taking advantage shooting 39/16 putts staying in the short grass to my 42/20putts that had me coming in from all over to score. The leaves cause havoc in some areas, but its November so you can't blame the course too much.
Back 9 is a little tighter and a few doglegs that can put you through the corners if you're not paying attention, like #12. The #14 is the 2hcp hole @ 478yd / Par 5, BUT should be #1 and the tree lined, overhanging branches, hard pan fairway for second shots was a real tester. (Shot 6 w/2putts) Hitting that elevated green that was 30' above the fairway was a real tester. Shot 39/38 putts with the course wide open taking 1.5hr to complete.
Always nice to play a local home grown course located 5 minutes off I-94, hope you will stop and play also.
Would travel: 20-30 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing, Ranks with the best in this price level
Condition of Course, Price, Pace of Play, Layout, No Houses on Course
