Morro Bay
2009-07-20
$21 (cart included), played on Monday, July 2009 at noon
One of my favorite courses to play. Morro Bay is located on the coast with permanent natural air conditioning. It is significantly cooler than Fresno (central valley), where I live. I typically play Morro Bay in the summertime to get out of the heat (we're in the middle of a projected 15 day stretch over 100 degrees now) for a day.
Located at the entrance to the State Park, almost every hole has an ocean view. The greens and fairways are well kept, and if you have never played an ocean course, I would suggest getting paired up with someone with local knowledge, as there are some insanely tricky breaks on a lot of the greens. Course is fairly wide open, hilly, which will test your club selection skills.
After your round there is plenty of good food to be had along the Embarcadero, with a lot of restraunts having views of the Bay and the sea life.
Would travel: 120-300 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Ranks with the best in this price level, Best course in the area
Condition of Course, Layout, Price, Ambiance, No Houses on Course
