Carved out of the prairie in the Hempstead area, this is a value gem that though short can get surprisingly tough with the prevalent southeast wind howling. Tiny, elevated, mounded and undulating greens add to the degree of difficulty the short, and usually dry course. You can break 80 here if you are a mid-handicapper who is on his game, but win the wind is blasting through at 40 mph, it can be a death march. Regardless, you can zip around in under three hours and not run into the normal cigar-chomping, U.S. Open putting (they think), Nassau foursome. That makes it worth the journey.
Would travel: 30-60 Miles
Bottom line: I would play again, Average course for the area, Bargain priced based on quality and competitive area pricing
