The JC Players card is the way to get the best value from this course. The "card" prices are very competitive (approximately $45) with other courses in the area, but the resort atmosphere is what gives the RBI the edge. The players club card works best for locals, or those playing multiple rounds in San Diego.
The 50 year old course was under construction (one hole at a time) for a new irrigation system when we played. Once completed in a couple of months this will be a lovely place for a round of golf. The greens were is excellent shape, the staff friendly, the price (with the card) is a bargain. Also, the outside patio is a great place for a beer or lunch overlooking the 18th hole.
Suggestion: use the bag drop, parking can be a healthy walk from your car to the pro shop. If parking is tight free valet service is offered to golfers at the Inn entrance.
Overall, a pleasant golf experience in the midst of an old Rancho Bernardo residential neighborhood.
Would travel: 10-20 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing
