The bermuda rough that starts immediately at the edge of the fairways will swallow your ball, and reveal it only if the course feels like it. This makes pace of play glacial, and is very frustrating when you've seen your ball hit the fairway.
I'm astonished that the members put up with it. Perhaps they're all plus handicappers that never miss a fairway or green.
