Deerwood has the potential, but it is not being realized.
Course maintenance not up to par. The rough is usually 5-6 inches high. This is a public course where like many public courses, the pace of play can be slow. Here the pace of play can also in part be blamed on the frequency of lost balls in the tall rough with people then endlessly searching for their lost ball. The greens were in deplorable condition with fungus attacking and nothing being done about it. The grass on tees is also much too high.
The course seems interested in only revenue coming in without course conditions being improved. About 5 years ago was still a course to be proud of.
Managements apparent "do not care" attitude is also found in the maintenance workers, starters , rangers and cashiers. They are not the nice or helpful group you find at other courses.
Would travel: 0-10 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Average course for the area, Better courses for less nearby
