I've played at this course an uncountable amount of times through the years. I played my high school golf here and was lucky enough for MCC to be the course I won my first invitational at.
At first glance the course doesn't seem like much and it's true you can play it when it's tamed down. Which is most of the year and it's a pretty easy track..... Then comes September and this course changes into a nine-hole beast. It's not long but the rough can be brutal and you honestly don't get level lies except for tee boxes. The greens have subtle slopes that are hard to read at times and are definitely the highlight of the property. They're fairly small greens but they really roll well and are a real challenge.
Long story short, lol, this course gets a bad wrap but it's only bc of those first couple months of the year where the maintenance is lacking. Play it in late August up through October and you won't be disappointed.
Would travel: 10-20 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: Average course for the area, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing, Ranks with the best in this price level
