Played this course when the Fall colors were at their peak. A spectacular setting, and an interesting piece of property. I was attracted to the course because recently, it had been discovered to be a Walter Travis redesign, in 1923. The exact details of that redesign, and changes that have occurred since, are unclear, but there were several greens and other features (such as the "chocolate drops" in the middle of the fairway on 16) that were typical of Travis design. Several holes have very distinct and memorable character, creating an interesting challenge. Some would benefit from selected tree removal, e.g. I'm thinking of a par three where the line from tee to green was difficult to discern because of intruding trees. Still, we enjoyed our experience there, and appreciate the warm hospitality. I hope to return.

Would travel: 120-300 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again
