I really like Oakmont West. It is most always in great condition, the course is challenging and the holes are unique. The greens are "slopey" and escaping with a 2-put is many times a bonus for this 20 handicapper. One (I won't call it a negative as much as a challenge) thing that Oakmont does is to keep their rough in the higher range. This makes finding a wayward ball a bit difficult at times. The houses are set far enough back to where they aren't an issue. The course is set in the Valley of the Moon and the views of the surrounding hills and mountains really enhance the ambience. I play it as much as I can.
Would travel: 30-60 Miles
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Ranks with the best in this price level
