$21 (cart included), played on Tuesday, March 2010 at 10am

Played here 3-2-10, while on a trip to escape the snows at home. Weather was low 40's and overcast, so it was pretty chilly, but I got around in about 2.5 hours, with cart. Course is now called Dogwood Trace, and is a Petersburg muni.

Everything is beige at this time of year, except the greens, so it can be a challenge to track your ball and find it, even in the fairway. Conditions were pretty good, considering the tough winter we've had in the East. Fairways are grassy, with few bare spots, bunkers were in decent shape, and greens were surprisingly good. Greens are medium sized, lightly contoured and putted a bit slow. Layout is fairly compact, but the front nine never feels crowded: the back is a different story, with the middle holes (13, 14, 15) running parallel and not very aesthetic, although there are bands of mature trees between the holes. Perhaps in spring, it'll look better...

Course is pretty flat, and walkable, even for seniors. Clubhouse is minimal, a double-wide trailer, but the staff was very nice and welcoming. Course is tucked into a city park, and adjacent to a school, so be prepared for school bells ringing in your backswing! Overall, a nice course, and worth a visit.

Would travel: 0-10 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing
