Played here 2-12-09. Foxfire has two courses, both of which are only $25 during February, and are a terrific bargains.
The complex is just outside Pinehurst, and these two courses are among the better ones in the mid-priced pack. Both wind through a housing development, but there is planty of room alongside, with no sense that the homes encroach on the playing experience. Design is quite good, employing the elevation changes and terrain features quite well. Some water, but not excessive.
Vista from #1 tee box is a bit daunting: fairway slopes away, down to a lake about 220 yards out, with a narrow chute of fairway along the left edge, and tall trees on both sides...it gets you focused pretty quickly.
Conditions were excellent: tee boxes are large, and were in very nice shape; fairways well maintained, with a clear "edge" defining the bermuda grass rough; bunkers were thoughtfully placed and in good shape; greens tend to be large, with modest contour, and putted true that day we played. Considering the time of year, the course was in superior shape, especially compared to some others we played during our "retreat from winter" week in Pinehurst.
Clubhouse is quite large, as might be expected in a resort/retirement community, and the pro shop was reasonably well stocked. Staff was very nice: capable and welcoming. Highly recommend!!

Bottom line: I would play again, Bargain priced based on quality and competitive area pricing
