Played here 10-13-12 for the first time, with friends who live nearby.

Course is very challenging and a worthy test for anyone. I personally feel it's a little too tough for higher handicappers (say 24 and up) because it is tight, has lots of trees, and has some very intimidating visuals off the tee. Having said that, it is a superior design, fully utilizing the terrain variations, and requiring serious thought on every shot. No houses anywhere in sight, either, and that's a major plus for me.

We played the Hollow-Ridge combo, and the first hole on each these is a bear. #1 on Hollow is a downhill tee shot to a fairway that slopes severely left to right, with a pond at the bottom of the slope on the right side. Very tough to keep your tee shot in the short grass. That's followed by an uphill shot to a well-bunkered green. #1 on Ridge is dogleg right, with the approach shot over a large ravine to a green that slopes AWAY...very tough to stay on that green in regulation: no one in our foursome was able to pull that off. Most of the other holes are a little more benign, but all feature sloping fairways (I don't think there's a level lie anywhere on the course), and large greens with considerable undulation, and a few with significant tiers. Bring your "A" game...

Conditions on 10-13 were pretty good: tee boxes are in decent shape; fairways firm, but very few bad spots; greens were VERY firm (and hard to hold) and fairly quick, although more grainy than I am used to playing: bunkers were not good, way too firm and thin.

Course was surprisingly empty for a nice Saturday morning. I don't know why, because the price is great for this superb layout, only $30 after 1030.

Clubhouse is OK, but the morning staff in the snack bar seened a little indifferent. After the round, the lady working there was much more accommodating.

All in all, a good golf experience: I highly recommend.

Would travel: 30-60 Miles
Bottom line: Better than average course for the area, Ranks with the best in this price level
