Depending on the tee time, it can be expensive although one needs to drive an extra 10-15 more miles out of SF just to get to a better course for the same fee. What Monarch has going for it is proximity and ambiance. It is a good layout built right alongside the East Bay. On a good day, one can see across the water to San Mateo, SF, some of Oakland. Planes can also be seen going in for landings. Very cool place but very windy in the afternoons for twilighters. Then again, it always gets windy anywhere in the Bay Area in the afternoon anyway.
Would travel: 10-20 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing
