Pete Dye totally re-did the old Purdue "South" course and I played it 2 months after it re-opened. My greens rating is based on current condition. It was obvious that after a couple of years of maturing they will be 5-star greens. They are just typical of recently built greens right now. The olde design was a great, classic, parkland course. The new Ackerman-Allen, is a great mix of thay and a typical Pete Dye course. Some old holes were kept and updated, some were modified, a couple were deleted and a couple completely new ones were added. It is a great test and certainly good enough to hold major college championships (which was the goal). You now have 2 top quality courses at Purdue to play and which one should be based on your preference in course style. If you like a more wide-open links style, play Kampen. If you prefer a few more trees, etc. play this course. You won't be disappointed by either.

Would travel: 30-60 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Ranks with the best in this price level, Expensive, but not worth it
