I grew up playing this course with my Dad and have always had great memories of my visits. OMG! I just came back from what is now the "Newport Beach Golf Course" and had these two old men in the starter office give me the hardest time for needing to cancel the round my son and I had planned.
The man with the band aid on his nose actually went out of his way to make fun of me, ridicule me, and make a huge dramatic scene about my request. I have never seen such a hateful person at a golf course. I can understand if someone is having a bad day, but he intentionally wanted to make me feel as small and embarrassed as he possibly could.
Well, I am not embarrassed for what was a reasonable request. However, I will never return to what is now the "Newport Beach Golf Course". What a nasty atmosphere. I will keep my fond memories of what it used to be.
My recommendation to anyone thinking of golfing here is to go to any of the neighboring courses that actually enjoy golf and enjoy creating a relaxing atmosphere for their guests. This place stinks.
Would travel: 0-10 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I won't play again, More than a field, but less than a golf course, Worse than average course for the area
