AS a miitary retiree I play Base GC's about 90% of the yr. I play at least 9 months per yr, 3-4 rds per wk (no wk ends). Wife and I travel in our RV all across the South, East & West. Barksdale is a great, old course w/ great prices. Fairways were overseeded so they were lush & green in Nov. Greens are allowed to brown over & were prety hard, but it's planned for their specific climate. Not just laziness. I walk when I play and am never pushed or hurried here at Barksdale. Brand new huge Pro shop, snack bar facility. Pro shop carried all dept store golf equip until last yr, as best I can tell. This yr they had some min amount of "pro line" equipment. Don't know if this will continue. Prices they had were lower than Golfsmith/Edwin W. but selection limited.
Would travel: 0-10 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Bargain priced based on quality and competitive area pricing
Condition of Course, Price, No Houses on Course, Pace of Play
