This is not a destination spot per se, which is why I note not vacation worthy; however, given I played on 12/16 in Chicago and perhaps the last decent day of the year, it did take on that blustery links quality that a trip to Scotland (or New Zealand) puts into play. Not knowing the course, I was not prepared for the hidden challenges with some of the deceptive deep bunkers that armed every green, greens that were somewhat calloused by the cold, but nonetheless true in their rolls. Don't know what time a mid-summer's round would play to on a Sunday, but given the spare numbers of brave souls who worked in a round a week before Christmas, this unrushed outing was especially pleasing to the pace as it clocked in at 3 hrs. 20 mins.
