I have been playing golf for nearly 50 years and I have to admit that I really enjoy Arthur Hills golf courses. This is no exception. I have played a few others on Hilton Head Island and they are top notch. They are usually tough, but very fair. Maumee Bay is much tougher than the average course but sheer genius in design. When I drove on the property, I looked to my right and saw tall fescue grass, a green or two and a couple of tees. I remarked to myself, " I drove 125 miles from Cleveland for this?" I could not have been more wrong. What Mr. Hills did with this piece of property is a design miracle. He moved a lot of earth to make lakes, greens and tees and gave it a pure links feel. I don't remember a single tree anywhere on the course. The unpredictable winds off of Maumee Bay blow all the time. If you ever wanted to play the courses of the British Open but can't afford the trip, play here. I am over 60 and played for a senior rate of $30.50 on a Sunday morning, including cart. My son is 25 played for $45.00. Can't wait to go back.
Would travel: 120-300 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Ranks with the best in this price level, Best course in the area, Bargain priced based on quality and competitive area pricing
