Depending on month of the year, the fairway can be a challenged. October-April: fairway is half decent with mud spots in many part of fairway and rough because this course is located in the mountain terrain (bay area rains didn't help). During cold weather, 32*-50*F, you might find frost delay or worst frozen tee box and fairway (can be fun depending on you mood).
This course is an excellent course in term of both course design layout and challenge aspect of the game. Many long PGA equivalent par 3 from BLUE tee. Many troubles, big tress, creeks, and OB to keep good golfer stays on their toes.
The course overall is well designed and one tough gorilla to beat. Warning this course is only worth-while if you play during the Spring + Summer + Fall Seasons .... Winter is a no go because occasionally you'll have frost delay and the ground is all frozen. Certainly fun to see 350 yard drives, but not if you can't get the tee into the ground at the tee box.
Would travel: 30-60 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Ranks with the best in this price level
